They lost my bag 19th July... I had a 3 week holiday in Europe without any baggage. Calling Air France every day... with conflicting information of where my bag was. I would still like it back.. the contents were highly sentimental to me. Back now in Australia (16 Aug) trying to contact Air France to find my bag. After trying to find telephone numbers found a 1300 number... and finally.. got through to lost baggage enquiries...where I was asked to put my request in a FAX!!!! I just want to TALK to someone! Bit of an old fashioned idea.. but then so is a bleedin fax!

On 11 July 2013, I began my return journey back to Australia following a combined work trip/vacation in Europe. The return journey began in Paris with an Air France flight to Rome, then Rome-Melbourne via Dubai with QANTAS/Emirates. Guess what happened? I arrive in Rome, no problem, but my bag, and EVERY OTHER PASSENGER on the plane did not arrive! We were told that half the luggage was simply left behind in Paris, and the other half was put on another plane going elsewhere in Italy. We were told the bags would arrive in Italy on a later flight, approx 5pm where we could simply collect them from the airport. Well no good for me as I had already departed for Australia at 3pm on that same day - I could not wait to claim my baggage in person. They assured me the luggage would be delivered to my home address in Melbourne, but when I check the status of my bag on the online web tracker, it simply says it has been received at the airport in Rome and that's where it has been for the past 3 days. Trying to get this pack of idiots on the phone is next to impossible as well. Very important I get the bag back as it has important stuff like my laptop computer etc in it, but they don't seem to care. Reading about other traveller's stories on here I can see it might be a lengthy process!!!

Aside from the lost luggage, I also found this airline yo be extremely inefficient/blasé with a "whatever" attitude in checking bags in for the flight (2 check in posts open with a huge queue of people, other people just standing around chatting when they could have been checking in passengers) ... Same process for boarding the plane. I can only assume that the baggage handlers are the same .....

Customer complaint

My name is mohamed mazen el tahan ,I HAVE faced a very negative experience in my first flight with air france in the 22of may 2013 from cairo to manchester - passing by parise- ,my bagage was lost in manchester air port in flight number AF1068. I was given the phone number of air france representative to trace my baggage who never call or respond to my repetetiv calls. I new that it was found coincidently after frequent calls with the call ceter.till the time of writing the current complaint(5 days) I didnt recieve my luggage yet . I faced series problems dealing with call center and consequently the delivery company. : -I have called them for more the 15 times recieving daily promises for delivering the bag which has never ocure . -I merely didnt recieve any feed backcalls from the customer care or the call center inspite of their frequent promises to call back . - they argue that the problem is on the hand of the delivery company which have failed to call me(although I gave them my phone number more then 4 times) and they refuse to connect me to the delivery or to the customer care department closing down all pathes of connections and hopes for solving the problem (I have expected sort of connection between the company and the call center) . I really didnt expect this poor customer and delivery services from well known company .I think this would severely hurt your solid image and reputation. Hopping for a rapid respond to my baggage problem. thanks . Mazen

I came across this website while looking for a customer service number to call Air France, and I was horrified at the comments. I very quickly found a number and called through to a 24 hour service, where I was answered within 1 minute, given another number to call specifically for reservations, by a very polite and helpful lady. I called the next number and was answered within 2 minutes of inputting some text phone info, and again had my rather difficult query about my booking by a travel agent, dealt with in a very understanding and polite way. Despite the fact that Air France were not responsible for my travel agent's error, the Air France agent was helpful in giving me all the information he could about the options available to me, and patient with my questions. Having had several bad phone experiences with other companies this week, I felt it important to return to this site to record this positive experience. I am sorry if other people have a bad experience of Air France employees, I can only re-iterate that the two I have come across were extremely human and helpful. And the phone answered quickly

Its is now 8:35AM EST and their CS number still says: please call during our open hours 8AM to 5PM.
WHY?

Waiting 47 minutes on the phone then gave up.

My husband and me travel by AF over 5 years nowIn this period our baggage were delayed 6 times.3 timesit was mine and twice some of my cosmetics were missing. My husband baggage was delayed 3 times as well.Actually his baggage was 21 days delayed. We try to claim a compensation and its really dificult ,they don t answer our letters.Because i was working as a crew member for one of EU airlines i can really see how many proffesional mistakes they doing.
Hope i fix this problem. If not i will report them to FAA and also as EU citizen to ECC.
We 'll see whats happen.By the way we are business class travelers and flying blue cards members so we have imagine what s happen to normal passengers.

I will NEVER EVER fly AIR FRANCE again. They cancelled my return flight to Italy since I didn't get on the departure flight of a roundtrip I booked months in advance. I had to book an earlier emergency flight since my mom got ill, and fortunately is doing better. After almost 18 years of flying with them, no exception was made to their rules. The only option they gave me to try to "resolve" this problem in the airport with 2 hours for departure, was to call customer service. There are no public phones at Dulles and toll free numbers work with an Italian mobile phone. A kind soul from Saudi airlines lent me his IPhone, where I spent one hour and 15 min to speak to n Air France representative, until was too late anyway to check in. To top it all off, I lost my passport. I have NEVER received such disservice in my life !!!!! Please pass this on and remember this when booking your flights !!! AVOID AIR FRANCE.

NEVER EVER AGAIN. Air France is a terrible airline. In all honesty, I have no idea how they are allowed to operate. I'll skip the loss of luggage drama on my flight to Prague and jump to the lack of professionalism the crew showed on my return flights from Budapest to CDG and then on to Boston/Logan. Rude staff at luggage/boarding pass area; One person demonstrating the safety strategies for the ENTIRE plane; Complete disregard for passengers seated near active and agitating unaccompanied children. Refusal to allow passengers desperate to make AF connecting flights to disembark the aircraft for no apparent reason. My grandmother was absolutely right, the vast majority of French people are rude and do not care for Americans. I will remain passionate about my feelings for Air France and discourage anyone from flying this poor excuse for an airline.

Absolutely rubbish!! Took an Air France flight from Marseilles to Berlin. My suitcase was destroyed. I attended the airpost office and had a damage report completed -acknowledging a replacement was necessary. Then Air France insisted I attend a luggage repair shop miles away from my hotel in Berlin (I was on vacation) to confirm the damage was irreparable. 15 Euros later and then running around trying to find a new suitcase while on holiday. I return to Canada and try to complete the online claim form and find the links don't even work (the form is supposed to be completed in 7 days - in my opinion a way for them to avoid paying or discourage claims). I call the number Air France provided for customer service in Canada - not in service (no suprise there). I finally find a link somewhere that works and it requires that you scan and attach 5 required items (luggage tag, boarding pass, receipts, damage report etc.) but you can only upload 2 items. I contact their customer service - another number I found on their various websites - I explain the upload limit problem. I hear silence - I say hello? She says "I didn't hear a question" (in a snotty condescending voice) I will NEVER EVER travel with Air France again. I will also make sure that I tell everyone I know what a unprofessional poor excuse for an airline they are. Wow - I cannot believe they can run a business like that!

I join the ranks of thoroughly disgusted Air France customers. My sister-in-law traveled through CDG to Venice for a 16 day river cruise starting July 24th. Our luggage never made it. My sister-in-law was lucky to get hers back the day we returned. I haven't been so lucky. I have complied with all the on-line paperwork, talked almost daily with the lost luggage folks in Atlanta and I am still without luggage and clueless as to when anyone will respond to my written paperwork. Last trip on Air France for us. If I had known about their terrible record I would have avoided Paris and Air France.

Never fly Air France! What a horrible excuse for an airline. I have been all over the world. Not only did they lose my baggage, but they refused to answer on the 24 hour help line. I am disgusted. Going to contact a lawyer. Hoping they go out of business and that all of their qualified employees find work elsewhere.

NEVER FLY AIR FRANCE!! I AM CURRENTLY STUCK IN VENICE WITHOUT MY LUGGAGE (AND WEDDING DRESS). I FLY AIR FRANCE FROM CHICAGO TO CDG WITH A CONNECTING FLIGHT TO VENICE. THE FLIGHT ARRIVING INTO CDG WAS LATE AND WE HAD TO TAKE THE NEXT FLIGHT TO VENICE. UNFORTUNATELY MY BAG DID NOT MAKE THE TRANSFER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IN THE PAST 24 HOURS THAT MY BAG WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ON 8 DIFFERENT FLIGHTS TO VENICE. IT HAS NOT ARRIVED. I HAVE BEEN LIED TO DECEIVED AND BEEN TREATED VERY RUDELY. AIR FRANCE HATES AMERICANS ----THIS IS OBVIOUS. I AM NOW WITHOUT ANY CLOTHING AND A WEDDING IN FOUR HOURS. I AM HESITANT ABOUT PURCHASING CLOTHING READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. WHAT SHALL I DO?? NEVER NEVER AIR FRANCE I AM ALSO CANCELLING MY THREE DAY TRIP TO PARIS....I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE FRENCH HOSPITALITY.

Horrible lack of service! I wouldn't even dignify the contact by calling it customer service. Our 16 yr. old daughter is currently on a trip to France and Germany. Her bags have been lost for 4 days, AF has not helped us locate the bags, we have been hung up on, yelled at and ignored. We have called no less than 25 times to no avail.
WE WILL NEVER TRAVEL AIR FRANCE AGAIN!!

On a flight from Manchester to Paris connecting to Roma Italia my luggage got lost. Three weeks later i was phoned saying Air France were unable to locate my baggage and to compile a list of everything in luggage with prices and reciepts. I did this with the total amount coming to approx £8000 of which i could prove approx 80% of receipts. I got compensated £1200.
Can anyone advise me on what to do now because i have lost an aweful lot of money, valuables and more importantly alost was sentimental.
Should i take legal action?

Air France was to issue a refund - regarding a Delayed flight from Zurich due to Weather, and the fact that the plane was a the gate and a rude Air France Employee refused to let us board the plane.
She dismissed us (after screaming show us your boarding passes) then told us we would have to come back tomorrow and get the next flight in the morning and pay 1600 USD -we purchased the tickets the next day because we were told that the only way we would not be cancelled on the return flight... and we were told that we could get the taxes returned to us for the first flight by three different Air France Employees!! we were canceled on the return flight and we did NOT receive taxes returned.. i called air france refunds on 1/7 & spoke to a customer rep who was going to issue a refund for the 1257 USD we paid for the make up flight due to weather related Airport Closure and the Extremely Rude, Racist Air France Employee that would not let us board our original flight on dec. 16.

On a flight from Paris to Hong Kong on 10 April 2012 we left half an hour late. I had requested diabetic food, which came but everything I was given on the 11 hour flight was in edible. One of the unapetising meals was cold chunks of chicken sausage meat & soggy vegetables that had been frozen and were so watery and tasteless. But the worst thing was that the inflight entertainment broke down on mine and my husbands screens for about 9 out of the 11 hours of a turbulent flight. We could not even turn on a light to read or call a hostess if we needed anything. One hostess said that we would be compensated, but when we approached the head purser he shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing they could do to compensate us. It is the worst flight I've ever been on.

Worst airline in the world. delayed flight to paris from london, then had 10 min to run through the airport to connecting flight when should have had 2 hours. then on flight back to paris from orlando our flight was cancelled for no apparent reason and we were not notified. we managed to get on a flight 7 hours after we were originally suppose to depart. when we got to paris we had a 1 hour stop over which would have been fine but we needed to go through security yet again and there was a massive que and ONE lane open for security checks. BARELY made our connecting flight to london and when we got to london our baggage had been lost. WORST AIRLINE EVER. NOT HELPFUL. FLAKY. UNRELIABLE. DO NOT USE

We have been living in Minneapolis Area for past 10 years and have used NWA for travelling purposes and since delta acquired NWA and have been using DELTA .But the latest incident that happened to my father-in-law named NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA bearing the Ticket number 000670119754861 and AIR FRANCE Confirmation Number : 5D3DSU was declined to board the flight AF 191 from BANAGALORE TO PARIS and DELTA/AIR FRANCE Staff told that the Flight was overbooked and should travel on March 29 instead of March 27 .

And later after talking to the people around it was inferred that the DELTA/AIR FRANCE Staff have deliberately booked and given preference to the Lufthansa Passenger ( since the Lufthansa Flight was cancelled ) to board the flight and declined the already confirmed Ticketed passenger NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA.

Passenger Details :
NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA
Confirmation Number : 5D3DSU

Please let me know why
• Mr NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA was declined or transferred to another Flight but he is present at the counter at 03/26 11:30 PM IST which is 3 hrs before the departure
• The Air France staff have initially told Mr NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA that the flight was overbooked and have to take the next Air France flight on 03/29 ; but when the passenger argued ; the Air France staff gave an option to fly from QATAR Airways which he rejected and then they gave the British Airways flight which is departing at 03/27 at 6:30 AM ( which is a additional 5 hr delay )
• We the family members have no idea what so ever what is the status of the passenger and since last 15 hours we have gone through a misery and no one is actually helping out
• I would like to know why did the DELTA/AIR FRANCE Staff took a biased approach to Mr NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA and gave the ticket to other Lufthansa passenger and he was held sitting in the wheel chair for 2 hours and finally when the AF 191 departs the AIR FRANCE Staff have put the reason that the passenger was late which is a blatant lie
• I would like AIR FRANCE to call the awaiting and confounded family members at 347-244-9431/347-446-0677 with an update and an explanation as to why AIR FRANCE /DELAT STAFF have declined to board Mr NAGARAJA NARAYANAPPA .
• Please investigate this at the earliest

i flew air France from Casablanca, morocco to Paris then was to fly air Canada to Montreal. the plane in morocco left well after my connection time in Paris so the airline attendant said when you get off go right to gate 'G' where air France can re-book u on another flight. I did that only to be told that even 'though it is our fault you missed your connection we can't help you cause your connector is air Canada' they made me go to air Canada ticket office and i only had 40 mins to get there before air Canada closed for the day. i asked air France to call ahead and tell them i will run and to please wait for me. they did that but i had to run to gate 'A' however they told me at air France i needed to go to 'E' they misguided me all over the place and i barely made it to air Canada. however air Canada couldn't put me on a flight for 3 days. AND i had to pay 350.00 to do that which left me without a penny in my pocket. I then went 3 days in an airport with no sleep, no food, no drink, and i am a diabetic who requires insulin 4-5 times a day. my experience from Paris to Montreal was hell but then i realized that the ticket from montreal to PEI was for the next day(exactly 24 hrs after arriving in montreal). i was pi$$ed. however due to cancellations and delays all over the place(weather elated) the flight to PEI that evening (14 hours after arriving in montreal)had an empty seat and was able to get home about 10 hours earlier than original flight booked for me from paris. air france REFUSED to put me in hotel or give me even so much as a coffee. they did offer me a drink of water, God bless them(sarcasm at its highest). when i arrived home after not sleeping for 4 full days or eating i had to go to hospital to regulate my diabetes and sleep. i ended up sleeping for 25 hours. i was EXHAUSTED needless to say and due to the fact i was 6 days late arriving back to work i lost alot of money in wages. i have done everything i can to contact these ppl and they just avoid everyone and hope we will just get frustrated and go away. well after enduring the frustration i had in paris, i will not let them get away with this BS. I have retained a lawyer only after numerous attempts to recover some of my lost money. Im sure he will get what is rightfully mine. oh ya....I paid for first class and got a seat that was so cramped i didn't even have room over head to put my 'carry on' so had to keep at my feet, but at that point i was just thankful to be on a plane headed for Canada. the air Canada staff were more than helpful to get me on the next plane that had extra seats available from Montreal to PEI.
even tho my ticket was one contract from air France to air Canada air France refused to help in any way and it was clearly their fault. even the pilot apologized as did the attendants for causing me to miss my connection. i would have had 90 mins to catch my connection but we left morocco exactly 2 hours after scheduled take off...oh and anyone in CDG airport needs to be very careful of ppl asking if you need a taxi. i sat there long enough to see they were scammers and pickpocketing ppl by coming close and these men were well dressed in suit jackets and such. that is why i couldn't go to sleep cause i knew if i did i would wake up with nothing left especially passports. i personally watched a ring of 4 guys pickpocketing passports. so if you need a taxi go outside to get one, there are plenty of 'real taxi's' there. my experience with air france took away any good that i experienced while in morocco. and to think everyone warned me of what to be aware of in morocco and ironically did NOT have one negative experience while there. and one last thing...i find it ironic that they ask you to give your email and name so IF they need to reach you that they can yet i have not had any of the 131 calls to them answered or they 'disconnect' the call(convenient)

This was the first and for sure the last time
with AIR France. I always thought that things I heard in the US about the French were exaggerated but now I know better. The AIR France plain was dirty (tray in front of us dirty with crumbs and drink stains. My daughter had bug bites after the flight from NYC to Paris. It was disgusting. Also the customer service sucks completely as there is either no answer, you get disconnected, or people are not able to answer any simple questions. So if you booked with AIR France I wish you good luck.
