My family has frequented the Bonefish Grill in Kansas City North on Lucerne many times since it has been opened and always enjoyed our experience. Last Friday, my son took me there for my 36th Work Anniversary dinner and we were treated very poorly. It appeared to be a manager that I did not recognize at the front reception when we came in. He was of middle eastern or Indian decent (I couldn't find his name on the website). When we arrived there was no one in the waiting area so we just approached expecting to be seated immediately. We always sit in the bar area and there were two booths open. Usually we would ask if we could just sit there and the answer was always sure. Last Friday, he tells us that we cannot sit there and there is a 30 - 35 minute wait. I asked where the people were that were waiting and he just repeated 30 - 35 minutes.
So, we went to the bar and sat while we waited. By the way the bartender was fantastic! She was very outgoing and personable.
After waiting about 30 minutes, another young man came over and asked if we were still waiting for our table and we said yes, and we would like one of the booths in the bar area, WHICH WERE STILL EMPTY! He said I'll be right back and went back to the man who told us to wait and informed him. We then sat there another 15 minutes and watched as someone else came in the door and they sat them in one of the booths and then a little while later, another came in and they sat them in the other booth.
At this time, we decided we would go ahead and order from the bar. They never came back to say we had a table and quite honestly we didn't want to deal with that person again. I know they couldn't have cancelled us because the bartender did not know our name or that we were waiting.
I feel like for some reason the manager was prejudice against us. Anyway, if he remains there, we won't be back which is regretful because we go fairly frequently and so do our friends.
