As my husband and I were shopping on Saturday, a woman walked in and starting shopping for produce. I politely asked her to put on a mask. No response. I asked her to stop breathing on all the produce and please put on a mask. She smirked at me and continued shopping. So I went up to the check stand and asked for a manager. I got the run-around. He (pointing to one check stand) is the manager, talk to him. Next time I asked it was someone else. They said they would take care of it but never did. My husband has cancer and cannot be around anyone unmasked and I decided to see this through rather than just leave the store. I continued to ask for a manager and finally someone actually picked up the phone and got someone to come out of his office. He told me that it is Ralph's Corporate Policy NOT to enforce masking if the customer doesn't want to. He can offer them a mask. He can give them a mask. But no one at Ralph's can enforce this. IS THIS TRUE? And do you get to choose which laws/mandates to follow? What happened to 'no shoes, no shirt, no service'---can't masking be added to that? Why did this one rude person's choice to NOT follow the rules matter more than mine? This was all happening while "Karen" was checking out and leaving the store. The manager was 2 feet away from this woman and could have easily just ASKED her to put on a mask as a courtesy to the rest of us. That would have gone a long way with us. As it was, we left our carts and the store and have decided to shop elsewhere from now on. Somewhere that actually cares about the health of their employees and customers.
