What do you think? I have been a customer of Citizens Bank for 15+ years. I have never had a problem and the people have been very nice over the years. In March of 2016 my son at 16 years old got his first job. He wanted to open a bank account. So I went with him to Citizens Bank to open an account. It was his account but linked to mine because he's under the age of 18. He set up direct deposit for his paycheck. We did all the necessary paperwork and the branch we went to was a different one than I normally use. I use one closer to my work. The person helping us told us after everything was complete that after three months of direct deposit that as an incentive to work the bank would deposit $150 in my son's account. He was very excited about this. He worked and saved his money and in June I watched for the $150 deposit. When July came and it wasn't there I made a note to call about it. When using the branch closer to my work one day in July I saw the same person who had helped open the account at my branch. I stopped and asked him about the money. He apologized and said he would look into it and verified my phone number. August and September came and no money was deposited. I was in my branch again in September and asked to a teller about it. She said she didn't know and that I would have to ask someone who was in the area behind me. She was very kind and when I looked in the direction she was speaking of I saw the desk of the man who had been telling me he would check on it. His desk was empty so I made a note to call him. I called the next day and he said he would look into it and again apologized and verified my number. October came and no money was deposited. On November 9th I went to my branch and went right over to talk with the same man. I got out of work early that day to attend a concert in Pittsburgh. We talked about that a minute and he said he would pull up my account. Surprise, there was no money deposited in my son's account. He told me he would send an email and get back to me later that day. I received a voicemail (that I still have on my phone) saying that he is working on it and hopes to have it resolved soon and that I should pay attention the upcoming week and the money should be in there. I told him even though I was getting very frustrated I had confidence in the bank and knew they would make it right. On December 1st I called again. He told me he would check and get back to me. I have a voicemail on Dec. 1st (still on my phone) saying he is still working on it and he will hopefully hear something tomorrow and have an answer. A few days later I went back in to my branch. I asked the teller to speak to someone higher up than the individual I had been talking with. She said there wasn't anyone there higher up and directed me to a woman behind me. She knew my story right away without me telling her the whole thing. First she said my son didn't qualify for the money. I asked her why we were told that he did. She said she didn't know but thought it was because he didn't have his license yet. I told her no, try again because my son had his license for months at the time the account was open and even presented it that day. I made sure he took it with him that day. Then she said it was because he was under 18. Again I said this was never mentioned before that it was a requirement. It turns out she was at the same level as the gentleman I had been dealing with but gave me a name of someone at the branch where the account was open who I could talk to. I called her the next morning. She was the most helpful in all of this. When I gave my name and started to tell the story she interrupted and said she knew the story. She said she was working the day my son and I opened the account and heard the gentleman tell us that my son qualified for this money. She listened and was very sympathetic but told me that customers can only talk to her level, managers don't deal with customer service. I asked for a name of her supervisor. She said she was instructed to not give out a manager's name for customer service. She then told me that there was an email sent from her supervisor to the gentleman I had been talking with back in JULY stating that my son did not qualify for this money because I was an existing customer that his account was linked to therefore it could not be considered a new account. For this reason he did not qualify and their employee was told that. On my end this gentleman was still telling me in December that it was being worked on even though his superior said it was not happening So this employee told me she would tell her supervisor all of this again and ask her to understand from my point of view but she did not have much hope that the decision would be swayed. I told her what kind of mother would I be as an example to my son if I stayed a customer of Citizens if they didn't make this right? If they have an employee who told a loyal customer something and it was wrong and that person was told it was wrong and still told the customer it was going to be resolved, why does the loyal customer have to lose out over $150? So I told her to tell her superior that I will have a story either way and that her boss just has to write the ending. The following day that employee called and left me a voicemail (that I still have on my phone) saying her boss stands by the decision to not give my son the $150. So this my friends is the ending Citizens Bank has written and I am sharing with you. They refuse to this day to allow me to speak directly with a bank manager when I ask for a name and number. -Ann Kaspick Erie, PA

I went to the Citizens Bank located in the Stop & Shop in Falmouth, Ma.this morning. I work for a home health agency and was depositing an elderly clients money in her account
The girl at the counter, her name was Alexandria was very short with me to begin with and then she couldn't read the account # the client had written. She expected me to know it and when I said I had no idea, she gavee the deposit back and said she couldn't process it. Could she not have looked up the name on the deposit slip? I looked at it and one of the numbers looked like a 4 and not a 7 like she thought. Then she found it. But very rude the whole time. I am 70 yrs.old and have dealt with Citizens a long time and I can say I have never had a rude person like this.

On-line banking charged overdraft fees for charges that were not posted until 4 days later. Multiple calls were useless excuses and double-talk.

Citizens doesn't care. They only make money because them take yours for no reason, and they won't give if back.

Not good at all. Does not respond in a timely fashion. Feels like they don't care. Jon Humbert is working with me on a loan and he doesn't respond to emails.

I went to the drive thru turtle Creek location. The sign said open and the window was up. I was ignored. I pushed the button yet no one came to the window. I then went to the door and it was locked. So basically they closed early and ignored me!

This was great. I had to speak to 2 different people and they were both very nice and very helpful. The prompts worked.

Woman At The Service Desk Today(2/24/13) Till Closing Time. Worst Person In The World. Extremely Rude, Knows Nothing. This Person Should Be Fired. Waited For Her For 2 Hours, And When She Comes Back, I Get An Extremely Rude Comment And Sass. You Have No Right To Work At A Bank Or Anywhere Else In The World. Before You Learn To Handle Money, Go Learn Manners First.

They have by far the worst banking and customer service. They provide no help with any of your concerns either and they have attitude!!! My daughters account was fradulently tapped into 3 times while she was paying for theft protection and mine was tapped once on an account with a debit card never used. They also have terrible hours, poor customer service and ridiculous fees. All around DO NOT open an account many other banks are better!! Trust me

Awesome customer service reps, polite, helpful and friendly.

I dropped in to the Brattleboro branch to cash a small check Three active tellers, all making the best effort to avoid eye contact. Five minutes into my wait, a car pulls into the drive thru and one of the energetic tellers jumps to wait on the driver. Still I am ignored. I was cheerfully greeted by a seemingly manager type who strolled by, but still no teller attention. Another five minutes and I turned and walked out, not even a "have a nice day". What a waste of time. I will probably move my account to another bank soon enough.
This stupid bank doesn't even have a contact on their web site. Sad...

I actually just had a good experience with Citizens customer service. I called at 4am when I noticed they had charged me an insufficient funds fee on an acct that I had transferred more than enough money in to to cover a restaurant's error in charging me twice. The customer service rep was courteous and asked me to hold fir 2 minutes while she reversed the fee. I was very satisfied.

Citizens Bank has the worst customer service in the world, especially online messages.

I am not sure they ever even read them before they paste in their "we can't help you, call our 1-800 number" message!

Circle Gold indeed. They suck.

I was recently charge $125.00 processing fee for a levy that was put on the account in error. I found it much easier to deal with the IRS than the Manager Linda Firth. She was very cold and would not even listen to me. There fees are exuberant. I have also been charge for numerous late charge fees of 37.00 when the money was there. I was told that they process the largest amount first, even if that was your last transaction of the day. I will be calling BBB and closing my account which I have had for 20 years.

I co-signed a loan for my daughter. Most of the time she makes a loan payment at the last moment. That triggers many phone calls to my house daily. I have repeatedly requested they use my daughter phone as the contact. They threaten my credit rating instead. I would never bank with them.

We strongly recommend AGAINST using citizens bank. We opened an account here only a few months ago and we are actively searching for a new bank. They are the worst bank I have ever dealt with. We were lied to about a number of things regarding the accounts we opened including additional fees that were not mentioned at the time the accounts were opened even though we were assured there weren't any. We have had to call customer service > 4 times in 3 months due to problems with our accounts. The customer service reps are rude and have an extremely poor attitude. Issues have been satisfactorily resolved 0% of the time over the phone.

Absolutely the worst bank by far and sinking lower all the time. I've been to branches in Roslindale, West Roxbury, and Newtonville and have never encountered a more inept group of people. Monday 9/24 I went to the West Roxbury branch where it took 20 minutes of fiddling with the computer for an employee to tell me that their server had crashed that morning and he was unable to access my information. Today 9/28 I went to the Newtonville branch where a most obnoxious and overbearing women kept telling me I should talk to their financial advisor. After I declined a half dozen times, she still kept pushing it. I wanted to renew a retirement CD, but I couldn't because she kept insisting that it was a traditional one, when in reality I have a Roth. I left totally exasperated, tried to call the manager of that branch when I got home and was told there was no manager. Tried to call their 1-800-922-9999 and got stuck in an automated loop where I could not access a live person. This bank is a nightmare.

Terrible!! Unable to reach a live person. Following the instructions does not work and is extremely frustrating. The menu we are forced to use is a complete farce.

This is absolutely the worst bank with I have every been involved with! It seems as though they have come up with an ingenious method to rob their clientele blind. They actually allow you to go over the amount which is in your account and then they conveniently overcharge you for it! They have actually stole thousands of dollars from me this easy. And when you call them you can tell they have ben trained to make you comply that it is good what they see doing to you! Fing you that is! Do not! Open an account with them! They are aholes and theives!

The Citizens Bank in Codman Sq. at 569 Washington st. Dorchester Ma. is the only branch that I've found to be very unprofessional and rude. I go there because it is the closes Citizens Bank to my home and business.

I have a business account as well as a personal account there and yet I am treated like dirt. The tellers are rude, imparticular a dark skin woman with short hair that speaks with an accent. This bank has their own policies separate from other Citizens Banks. Some of these polices are very inconvenient to customers but this bank seems to think that customers are a liability and not an asset. The monthly maintenance fees are outrageous and yet they perform in this manner. I am considering closing my accounts with Citizens Bank because of this one branch.

I am sorry to tell you that your Customer Service is deficient. It took extremely long to just deposit over $9,000. Then when I asked to used the bathroom for an emergency the manager told me to go to the pet shop next door. I have been a customer of Citibank for many years, we have $90.00 in your bank. Therefore ...I am not a homeless person to be sent to the pet shop next door to use your bathroom.
We have many accounts on other banks...Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc. Where we are treated better.

We will remove all of our money from your bank...after many years.

Money management is your own responsibility the bank is not your mother or father. You probably should have an account at all If your pretty much broke anyways. All of you complain but not once had a positive response. I used to bank with M&T (aka M&Fee) citizens bank has giving me the opportunity to bank with trust. If I go over one week or am negative cause I short my self. The they give you a 10 dollar limit to fix it. 5 transactions a month that's 30 to 31 days in a month, quick answer for you use your card 5 times and you are fine. Other banks charge ridiculous fees just for having an account or require a direct deposite form to be applied. Manage your money better and quit complaining and all of you may be succsessful with saving money. It's not anyone's fault. Although one person is correct. There is a correct procedure to have your check stopped. But don't wait till last minute to do so. And don't write checks you can't promise won't bounce. Best of luck to all. Citizens bank is not your problem. It's your choices that are your problems.

This past month, you charged me over $500 on insufficient funds. The insufficient funds came about because you did not revoke about 10 authorizations that I had asked you to stop paying. I did this by sending an e-mail to one of your agent and asking her to stop the payments. They were not stopped so yesterfay I went to the bank to speak with another agent and she explaied there was a specific procedure for stopping payments. Since yesterday, I have followed those procedures so I expect I will be solving the problem very soon.

In the meantime, I have this deficit in my account produced by all the charges you have levied on me.
I am on a fixed income and ill besides. I really need this money you have charged me. Would you please see what you can do about this?
