Just had a great experience with American Express customer service. They allowed me to open a dispute against over $700 in charges from StubHub who refuses to over refunds in the wake of all the Covid cancellations. Even though it was a few days beyond their traditional 120-day limit, the customer support rep at AMEX got the dispute submitted and my account credited. Really appreciate doing business with a company so interested in helping.

We opened an American Express Delta Skymiles account that promised 75,000 skymile points after spending $3000 in the first three months. We are trying to book a vacation in October so we quickly began spending the money on this account. I called in to American Express when I received the card and was told that the points would post to my skymiles account 72 hours AFTER the closing statement date at which I met my spending requirements were met. I then planned to spend the money by the July 25 statement closing date in order to receive the points in time to book this travel. During the next 6-8 phone calls I was given multiple explainations of when I would actually receive the points....One representative told me 6-8 weeks after the statement date, one representative told me 6-8 weeks after the spending was met regardless of the closing date and the last representative told me 8-12 weeks. NONE of these responses were consistant and now I am left with a half planned trip including unrefundable hotel and activity reservations and I will not have my points in time. One representative told me that American Express had NOTHING to do with the issuing of the points and that I must contact Delta to resolve this...I quickly called Delta and was told that information was completely incorrect and in fact, Delta could not control the points from American Express...I do not know WHY this American Express rep told me this. I have remained calm and reasonable throughout this process but it is VERY frustrating. Also note that at least TWO of my phone calls were dropped right in the middle of talking to someone that was seeming to be helpful at the time. Only to lose that call and have to call back to explain the issue all over again. IF I had been told that the points would be issued after the spending threshold was met regardless of the closing statement date I could have spent the $3000 IMMEDIATELY upon receiving the card and then the time frame might not have been so critical as to when the points would post. Now I am out of luck. I am very unhappy with the misinformation I have been given. At the very least, the representatives from American Express should be able to convey consistant information from which the consumer can make their spending decisions.

Dispute Ref #L8D9588 - MY ACCT - not excepting your decision - same reply from Amex in May 2016 for charge of $79.00 on 5/1/16 for again unauthoriced charge by Stratigig Investments (Baumann Letters) same company - have all documentation and ready to send you. This is FRAUD BY THIS COMPANY. Ipurchases a book on 2/5/16 for $97.00 that is how they got my AMEX account number and is

stored in their system - I made a copy of my account information - which I did not know I even

had an account with this company!!! I hope that AMEX WILL BE ABLE TO GET THIS RESOLVED BY HAVING THIS COMPANY ISSUE ME A CREDIT FOR $129.00 AND BLOCK THEM SO THEY CAN NEVER CHARGE ME AGAIN. MARIA L. WILSON.

The Customer Service For American Express Is The Absolute Worse. They Are Very Rude And Literally Will Hang Up The Phone On You If They Don't Like Your Tone. Instead Of Realizing, That As The Customer Frustration Has Set In And What They Are Saying Doesn't Make Sense. They Are Not Patient Nor Are They Compassionate To The Customers Need. Marcus The 6th And Last Person I Spoke With Told Me He Couldn't Do Any Thing Else For Me And That He Is Disconnecting The Call. Very Disrespectful And Unprofessional

I Call For Account Balance, And It Was The Most Horrible Experience I Have Had With American Express Since 1992. I Was Kept On Hold From 2:45pm To 3:05 Pm Listening A Recording That Kept Saying "please Wait" Every 30 Seconds. That Was Worst Than Water Torture.

The Operator Who Said Her Name Was Cele At Best Was Incompetent, I Asked To Speak To A Supervisor, Which She Told Me She Couldn't Find One But She Would Look. My Question Is Was I Talking To Someone In America, Is There A Language Barrier. The Last 4 Digit Of My Card

I have a Card that I bought like a gift card from Wal-Mart. I can use it like a checking account. I had my check deposited in it. It didn't go on my account and I can't get past the main woman who tells me I need a trace #. Wal-Mart don't have one they can give me till next week. When I ask to talk to some one else up the chain There is no one to talk to or they won't let me talk to someone else. I think I will be canceling this card very shortly.

Amex need to fix their technical system together, when customer of Amex add monies to their account and the malfunction is failure on Amex technical system,I should not be penalized to wait several weeks, before my monies are added back to my account, it I'd not tight

If you have a credit card with American Express - be ready to call several different divisions to get answers to questions that you might have... If you have questions regarding online services - that is another number to call, if you have questions regarding "reward dollars" get ready for another phone call to somewhere else etc....

I ordered something online and charge was processed without issue. However, 2 other orders appeared on my acct that I did not order. I called to dispute the charge because I use am-ex prepaid card and charges were taken from my balance. The rep I talked with just kept over talking me and repeating herself. Saying could not dispute charges because the vendor had not collected the money yet so I should wait and it would drop off. I could not make her understand that it needed to be disputed because it has been processed and will be collected. Finally asked for supervisor. Talked with him and he said I would just have to call back after the charge posts on account and dispute it then. I explained that I use 3000 per month on average that I have directly deposited to this acct and I am really upset at the lack of helpfulness I was being shown. Questioned why I had to callback again to challenge it and then again to make sure disputed. Was told "read your member agreement." I advised him that I was deeply upset by lack of assistance and will consider cancelling account and redirecting all deposits to a different company. His response? " well you can do whatever you want." As a disabled person, money and assistance ranked highly in my priorities. American Express seriously needs to rethink their customer service protocols. I'm a small fish with a very big mouth and a huge platform of access to voice my discontent. Huge fail.....

I have been an American Express card holder since 12/1989. I have another American Express Card at Costco, and still another one at Macy's. I am going to destroy all my cards and no longer use them. About a month ago, I received a letter telling me that a new card would be sent out shortly and to destroy the old card. This I did when I received the new card. The problem was that with the future switchover at Costco, I presumed that this was a replacement card for my business card. I destroyed that card and began using this one for business expense. In one month alone, I added up over $6500 in business expense. When it was discovered that this was not a new business card, but a replacement card for an older card I had not used in years, I immediately called in and spoke to a pleasant lady. She said she would note in my file that I should have my bonus reward credits switched from the mistaken card to my business card. The credit at 1.5% was to be over $97.00, no small chunk of change for my business. She assured me at the time that this would be noted and would happen. Today I called in, and was online for 34 minutes, most of it on hold while I was switched around. Eventually, a supervisor informed me that there was nothing they could do for me. Nothing? I informed her that I would refer this to the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney General's office, and also to our local ABC affiliate Problem Solvers. I have already gone out to Twitter and Facebook and expressed my opinion that I was lied to by American Express. Once I receive my rebate checks I will no longer use American Express. If anyone at American Express reads this you could probably check my account and see how much I have used my business card over the years. I will now switch to Chase Business Card. I feel very betrayed by my mainstay card. I went to Costco, and was informed that the switch over to Visa has been delayed slightly. But I will no longer use any of American Express cards. I feel betrayed and lied to. Additionally I was trying to run my store and stay online for those 34 minutes. I wasted my business time.

I cannot talk to any one therefore there is no service.Try calling from OS to report a stolen card.
IF YOU MAKE A COLLECT CALL THE OPERATOR IS FACED WITH A RECORDED MESSAGE AND A CHOICE OF BUTTONS TO PRESS AND THEREFORE THE CALL CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.
Try role playing and see the levels of frustration we mere mortals have to endure.

This is an A+++ comment. I apparently missed a step in paying my bill on line last month. I had no idea until I received my past due bill in the mail today. Because of my flawless payment history and Amex customer support, my penalties were removed and my late payment history erased without my even asking. I so appreciate being appreciated. I am a loyal Amex customer.

Two problems have become critical that AMEX used to excel at. 1. Busy signals and long waits for a human being after navigating a tedious set of voice menus to "narrow the problem down." They have told me for months they have a software problem, and I could tell by the agent's phraseology that the agents are sick of the complaints as much as the cutomers are.

2. They are going more an more with international call centers. As an American, I'd like to speak with an American call center. As well, there seem to be minor problems with the Mexico call center and, regarding the Phillipine call center, well, the women are knowledgable and friendly and communicate well, but the male representatvies much less so on all counts--unacceptable. I pay for a card for good customer serivce and that is less and less the case.

Contacthelp is the best thing that has happened to the general customer service. Although corporations hide their contact details as much as they can, but this website exposes them all and is really very very accurate. Kudos to the contacthelp creators, you rock!!

I think american express.Stinks there liars and thieves.I filed a dispute with a merchant amazon.Waited the 8 weeks american express said it would take to resolve and investigate.Got a letter march 4 2014.Said i won.credit would appear on next statement.Guess what it was not Liars.infact they open up new dispute to figure out why. Why? IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER 8 WEEKS BEFORE I MAY OR MAY NOT SEE A DIME OF MONEY AFTER WAITING 8 WEEKS ALREADY THATS 16 WEEKS 4 MONTHS GO TO HEK YOU BAST u lied to me i trusted you.im out 379.99.american express your liars I bet i never get my money.You S big time

I Am Trying To Pay My American Express Bill, But When I Try To Sign In It Say I Need Cookies On My Computer. My Security I Have Wont Let Cookies On My Computer. Can You Tell Me How I Can Pay I Have Paperless Billing . I Need To Know What My Payment Is ,a Phone Number So I Can Contact Them Or A Address . HOW TO GET THE RESULT OU WANT

LATE FEES
Tell the rep you didn't receive your statement. You can pull this off twice a year and interest charges late fees penalty APRs will be removed :)
Death in the family or a sick family member thats hospitalized will do the trick also

ANNUAL FEE GOLD/GREEN
So your years of membership actually mean nothing and get you zero negotiation power. It just on your card to look pretty. However if you ask for a senior members card they will reduce your fees AND BY LAW AMEX KNOWS THE CAN NOT DISCRIMINATE ON AGE. They will reduce your annual fees regardless of your age.

I have tried for three days to get customer service
Person from the USA to no avail.All foreigners that I do
Not want to talk to.i finally called a re wards phone # three
Times and they connected me to customer service in,salt lake city,Mass and TX. While waiting for the help in looking
Up my account,I was disconnected three times ..

I have this card for many years and the service is getting
Worse a nd worse by the day.Why should I have to fight
With someone to speak to someone in America as I live
In America? There are plenty of Americans working for Amex .please correct this problem ASAP. Thanks

I was given a gift card from Amex for years I've had their credit card and have always been satisfied tell the recent nightmare of this gift card I spent over 4 hours 2 supervisors 2 managers in gift card dept with no resolution I was put on hold over and over and after 6 calls 4 hours 2 managers was and am still greatly dissatisfied I asked for a corp contact and still received no assistance I call one corp number and was told I would be sent a link to file complaint but never received that and that was from credit card dept. bottom line
DO NOT BUY AMEX GIFTCARDS FOR ANYONE YOU VALUE AS ITS A NIGHTMARE!

I want to terminate the AX rewards program. We have been here for long period and its time to same goodby. We expect our earned rewards points to remain until we decide on our choice.I would ask for a confirmation of this termnation for my records. Its been a long trip.

I just tried to return a Blue Appointment Book that was sent to my mother. She didn't order it but didn't return the card which was sent. She is 91 years old, wheelchair bound and in a home. I have her power of attorney but was told I would have to send a notarized copy of the POA before anyone would discuss her issue with me. I explained that I had only one copy that was notarized and I was told I would have to send that copy which would not be reurned. No other options were available. My attorney just told me that I should NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES send a notarized copy of my POA to anyone. What gives?????
The rep I spoke to told me her name was Mary and her ID# is 42600. She refused to supply a last name. No resolution and a very distasteful conversation. My mother's name is Evelyn C. Ozga and she has had this card since 2000. My name is Carol McCarthy and I have had my card since 1987 and my husband John McCarthy has had his gold card since 1980. We are very unhappy with this situation as you can tell.
